#32 Parachute

2013.05.dryfly.me.parachute-32

Hook: TMC 518 #32
Thread: UNI 17/0
Tail: Soft hackle
Body: Fly-Rite Extra Fine Poly
Wing: Poly Yarn
Hackle: Whiting Bronze Brown

As small as they get: going for the same pattern as the Aurivilli but had to change to the brown hackle since my white/black one didn’t have small enough featheres. It is possible to do parachute down in this size, it is just a matter of getting small enough material to be able to tie it on. And: to have the eye-sight to get the hackle on there, I really should get a magnifier when tying #30 and below, it gets hard on the eyes!

Brown Hatch

Hook: Daiichi 1260 #16
Thread: Sheer 14/0 Black
Tail: Mallard Flank White
Body: Taimen Beaver Dubbing Brown, UNI-Mylar #16 wrap
Wing: 2mm foam
Hackle: Whiting Bronze Brown

Was looking at some emerging Ephemerella patterns for this one; it will sit very low in the surface and the mallard flank tail will give it life. The foam wings together with the large hackle will make this sit in the surface for a long time. One of those that will end up filling a row in my box later this summer.

CDC & Deer – vibrant body

2013.04.dryfly.me.deer_cdc_long

Hook: DR 305 #10
Thread: UNI 6/0 Brown
Body:  Single Olive Green CDC feather, wrapped around the hook
Wing: Hareline Premo Deer – Olive

Experimenting on the CDC & Deer pattern – found a CDC feather with long fibres that should give a lot of life on the surface. Have not fished with this one yet, but this should work as a atractor on the surface.

CDC & Deer

Hook: DR 305 #10
Thread: UNI 6/0 Brown
Body:  Taimen Beaver Dubbing – Green Olive, UTC Ultra Wire Gold
Wing: Hareline Premo Deer – Olive, CDC Dark Olive

Floats really good and the extra CDC in the front of the wing gives extra life to the fly. A general go-to pattern that can be varied a lot: the general silhouette on this makes it usable in many situations.

UTC Vinyl Rib MDG

The Vinyl Rib is great for segmented bodies on midges, stoneflies, nymphs, emergers and much more. This is the UTC MDG in chartreuse that I have tied on 3 different sizes to show how the segmentation will appear on different hook sizes. The Rib is slightly see-through and you get a nice effect if you wrap the hook with a different color to get a effect.
