Getting material for flytying/flyfishing is a quest of its own: what shops are there, where do they ship, how is the customer service and so on. I have gathered some shops here that I find interesting (or have tried), both online and retail.
Online
- Taimen.com
Have had several orders in here and they ship quickly have a good selection (with good prices) - Atlantic Salmon Fly Tyer’s Shop
Not the best-looking site, but for atlantic fly tying it has some nice looking sections on feathers - aaronmostojfeathers.com
Feathers, body materials and blind-eye hooks for salmon - performanceflies.com
A wide selection of different barbless hooks and other materials. Only ships to some countries - theflyshop.com
Got myself some nice Gamakatsu #30 barbless hooks from here, good customer service and follow-up - The Book Mailer
Claims 3000+ fly fishing and fishing books and 300+ fly tying books. Have not tried this site, but the list looks impressing - Bob Marriott’s Flyfishing Store
- troutline.ro
Had this site recommended, not tried yet - Great Feathers
Retail
When on vacation there is always (??) time to stop by the local flyfishing shop, I’ll try to get some information here on different shops that you can stop by in different countries and towns across the world.
Norway
- nfisk, Oslo
One of the better shops in Norway, have rods, reels, tying equipment and a very helpful staff - Stram line, Oslo
50meters from the central station in Oslo this small shop have a good selection of equipment and information on fishing in and around Oslo - Jarle & Bjørnar, Lillestrøm
Not been here yet, but the rumors say it is handled by some very good people
