Soldier Palmer Fly from The Art of Angling by William Blacker. The one above is tied in hand on a vintage blind-eye hook, while the three below all are tied for fishing on Ahrex FW580 #10.

With some floatant this should be situated just in the surface, or fished just underneath the surface for some good action!

I found a deep green hackle deep in my hackle box that really matched the mohair in the body. A patch that I didn’t remember, but showed up just in time for this pattern that I believe in: the color, the movement and shape should give plenty of trout this summer! A variant should be a spider-version without the wing

Hackle: Wren tail
Wing: Partridge, grey tail

Substituted the wren tail since that is not an option to get my hands on. The wing is also not 100% to pattern, but close enough to the spirit of the pattern
