Orange Once And Away

dryfly.me.2013.10.19.once_and_away_orangeHook: Daiichi 1167 #12
Thread: Sheer 14/0 Black
Body: UNI-Floss Hot Orange & Br.Yellow
Thorax: Peacock
Wing & Thorax cover: 2 Jumbo CDC Orange
Antenna:  Peacock

Looking through the flies of Hans Von Klinken on danica.com and found the Once And Away that I have tied up in a orange variant. The pattern said contrasting thread and I had the hot orange and bright yellow on my desk, so from there it came out to this funky color-variation of the once and away. After I tied in the peacock for the thorax there was two strands of peacock that just stood perfectly to the side, so I trimmed them down to the same size as the wing.

Yellow Rabbit Emerger

dryfly.me.2013.10.15.yellow_emerger

Hook: TMC 2457 #14
Thread: Sheer 14/0 Yellow
Body: Hareline Turkey Biot Yellow
Wing: Rabbit Feet Aurivilli
Thorax: Peacock, Fly-Rite Extra Fine Poly #9 Golden Yellow

Got this great rabbit foot dyed in aurivilli yellow the other day and needed to tie some smaller dry-flies again (been on a salt-run lately), this yellow emerger should go great for trout. The sparse wing will make it float just below the surface, great for trout!

Hatching Caddis

ThreadSheer 14/0 Black
Body: Hareline  Hare’s Ear Plus Dark Olive
Wing: Deer Hair Olive , 2mm foam brown, CDC Olive

Hatching caddis with a strip of foam to split the wing: it will sit nice and low in the film and give a clear profile of wings. The added CDC in front of the deer hair will give impression of life. A pattern I haven’t fished, but I like the idea of it.

2013.08.dryfly.me.caddis_emerger_2The split wing will give a very distinct profile

Snowshoe Rabbit Emerger

2013.06.dryfly.me.snowshoe_emerger_1Hook: Daiichi 1167 #14
Thread: Sheer 14/0 Yellow
Body: Fly-Rite Extra Fine Poly Golden Yellow
Wing: Hareline Snowshoe Rabbit Feet Olive
Ribb: UTC Ultra Wire Olive

I have had a couple of Rabbit feet around for a while but not actually using them for a pattern. This consists of only two materials: the dubbing and the snowshoe (except for the last one where I added a rib), I left the fly as sparse as I could by choice to see how it will behave in the river I’m heading out to tomorrow.

2013.06.dryfly.me.snowshoe_emerger_2The Fly-Rite dubbing makes it possible to make really slender bodies for flies like this!
