Parachutes with Orange wing

2014.09.04.dryfly.me.parachute_16Hook: TMC100BL #16
Thread: Sheer 14/0 Black
Tail: Whiting Hackle
Body: Fly-Rite Extra Fine Poly Black
Wingpost: Wapsi Polypropylene Orange
Hackle: Whiting Bronze

This parachute pattern is favorite of mine and I tie it up in different colors, normally I tie in with a white wingpost but this time I got myself some orange Polypropylene and tied up a small batch to bring with me. Tying up more later today, but I should have enough in my box now (when do you get enough of these??)

Brown CDC Nohackle

Hook: TMC 100BL #16
Thread: Sheer 14/0 Brown
Tail: Mayfly tails
Body: Fly-Rite Extra Fine Poly Brown
Wing: CDC

These small nohackle CDCs sit a little bit different in the water than the ones with hackle and is a good example on why less-is-more! This version I tried to tie up with 4 tail fibers to get it to sit higher in the water. Good for both trout and grayling around these parts.

Parachute Family

2013.06.dryfly.parachute_familyHook: Mustad 94840 #12, #18. TMC 518 #30
Thread: Sheer 14/0 white
Tail: Soft hackle
Body: Taimen Beaver dubbing, grey
Wing: White CDC
Hackle: Whiting Bronze

A sunday tying session, today with grey and red/brown color combination. I tied up some in #12 and #18, and did a #30 in the end to tie off the family picture above. The #30 is a tying exercise to see if it is possible to scale down to these small hooks from TMC, didn’t come out too bad, the problem (as always with #30) is to find a good hackle that is small enough.

Aurivilli

2013.05.dryfly.me.aurivilliHook: Mustad 94840 #12, #14, #18
Thread: Sheer 14/0 Yellow
Tail: Soft hackle
Body: Fly-Rite Golden Yellow
Wing: CDC
Hackle: Whiting Bronze Brown

Getting ready for some fishing tomorrow with this family of Aurivilli in various sizes. The forest around Oslo should be primed with the last few days reaching up into the mid-20C and a bit of rain, so I will bring my bike out and check out some new areas that I haven’t tested out yet.
