#26 Parachute

dryfly.me.2014.04.17.parachute_swapHook: Gamakatsu: C12-BM #26
Thread: UNI Trico 17/0
Body: Hends Superfine
Thorax: Fly-Rite Extra Fine Poly Rust
Wing: Wapsi Polypropylene, Whiting Hackle

Another one for a swap targeting Caenis. This time a parachute emerger  on one of my favorite tiny hooks: the gamakatsu C12-BM, great big eye that really helps when tying it on a 7x tippet.

Blue & Gold Spey

dryfly.me.2014.04.13.spey_blueHook: Dai-Riki 899 #1/0
Tag: UTC French Tinsel Oval Gold Medium
Body: UNI-Floss Doc.Blue
Rib: UTC French Tinsel Oval Gold Medium
Hackle: Spirit River Spey Hackle
Throat: Guineafowl
Wing: Veniard Mallard Duck Bronze Shoulder Medium

A rather quick test to work with the Mallard wing and the spey hackle. The Blue/Gold in the body came out really good and I think the spey hackle will give it a good deal of life in the water.

52 weeks: 15 – Green

dryfly.me.2014-15.greenTube: Green
Thread: UNI 6/0 Grey
Tag: UNI-French Silver
Body: UNI-Floss Highland Green, Lagartun French Silk Floss
Rib: UNI-French Oval Med. Silver, UTC French Tinsel Med Gold
Dubbing: Seal Highlander Green (in front of the wing)
Wing: 3 colors of green templedog, Silver & Green Krystal Flash, Peacock
Sides: JC
Cone: FutureFly

A fun one to create: just get all the green I have and put it together on a fly. The optimal would be to have a green JC for the sides as well, but you can only have so many necks…

Comet Variations

dryfly.me.2014.04.03.comets

Single hook: Dai-Riki 899 #1/0
Double hook: Kamasan B280 #6
Tag: Lagartun French Tinsel
Tail: Golden Pheasant
Body: Red/Black UNI Floss, Lagartun French Tinsel
Wing: Yellow & Red Templedog, Yellow Flash, Black Templedog, Silver Flash
Sides: JC

As I’ve noted before: I try to tie up a pattern in different colors, or, as in this case: different types to see how they come together. Today it was a repetition of the comet from the other day. I really like this pattern and the double will see some smaller variants down to #12 for trout.
