Since I got so much sealwool from Eivind Berulfsen I tie up some of the patterns that he has on youtube (in Norwegian, but the instructions is straight forward). This is for seatrout and will be tested out in a week or two when I plan to get out to do some fishing again.
Was out fishing south of Oslo, down towards the Swedish border, and had a couple of great moments! I got my first seatrout in November last year, but that was tiny and barely over minimum. This weekend I got a personal best twice: the one below was the first, 650gram and in good fighting condition. The one above came in on 1150gram and was a good, but short, fight. Both took on baitfish in the exact same spot, a place I will go back to and visit very soon to hunt the next big one

Got some new grey hackle that I needed to test out together with the black I already had: I think the combination looks good, and together with the yellow tag it will go nice in the water. This is one I will test out for seatrout as well.
Heading out to do some more fishing tomorrow and sat down with a strip of white rabbit zonker and tied up some variations on the same theme: some with eye, some shorter and on different hooks. I prefer to tie up and fish different styles to see how they behave when they actually sit on the end of a tippet, so it will be a friday with experiments on these (and some baitfish). Which one would you tie up if you got handed these?
Looking through some pictures from earlier this year: the winter was breaking and I took the bus out to Fornebu, just 30min from downtown Oslo to try out the Seatrout. Didn’t get anything on this trip, but a great day after a long winter!
My current setup for seatrout: Guideline LPXe #6, Vision #6/7 reel and Guideline Coastal Fast Intermediate #6
This is the first year I have targeted seatrout, will focus on tying for that the comming winter
A must-have for cold winter days:
The ice was still on the shore
Some very nice places to target seatrout in the Oslo fjord, when the spring comes there are a lot of flyfishers in this area
