More CDC & Deer on my vice these days – the top on Daiichi 1167 #12 and the dark olive below on Partridge SUD2 #14. The one below is a tried pattern for me, but with the addition of CDC in dubbing loop for the head.

Brown CDC Nohackle
Hook: TMC 100BL #16
Thread: Sheer 14/0 Brown
Tail: Mayfly tails
Body: Fly-Rite Extra Fine Poly Brown
Wing: CDC
These small nohackle CDCs sit a little bit different in the water than the ones with hackle and is a good example on why less-is-more! This version I tried to tie up with 4 tail fibers to get it to sit higher in the water. Good for both trout and grayling around these parts.

Red & Green CDC Emerger
Hook: Knapek Midge Pupae #12
Thread: Sheer 14/0 Red
Body: Wapsi Rabbit Dark Olive
Rib: UTC Wee Wool Yarn Red
Thorax: SLF Spikey Rabbit
Wing: CDC Green
A spikey emerger that sits low in the water. I have not tried the yarn as ribbing before, but it was light and I needed something that wouldn’t weigh the fly down too much.
