Parachutes with Orange wing

2014.09.04.dryfly.me.parachute_16Hook: TMC100BL #16
Thread: Sheer 14/0 Black
Tail: Whiting Hackle
Body: Fly-Rite Extra Fine Poly Black
Wingpost: Wapsi Polypropylene Orange
Hackle: Whiting Bronze

This parachute pattern is favorite of mine and I tie it up in different colors, normally I tie in with a white wingpost but this time I got myself some orange Polypropylene and tied up a small batch to bring with me. Tying up more later today, but I should have enough in my box now (when do you get enough of these??)

Devil Bug

Hook: TMC 100BL #12
Thread: Sheer 14/0 Black
Tail/Casing/Head: Wapsi Premo Deer
Dubbing: various colors

Lots of things happening now, tying up different dries on BL, and today it was time for some Devils Bug with some different dubbings. This is a very simple fly that can imitate different things, but I think it will work well stripping it in towards land, making a good impression in the surface on the river. Looking forward to try it out.

Bomber for Trout

2014.09.01.dryfly.me.bomberHook: Knapek Streamer #6
Thread: UNI 6/0
Tail: Calf Body Delux
Body: Wapsi Premo Deer Black
Hackle: Whiting
Wing: Calf Body delux

A quick one today after getting these BL hooks from Knapek after a visit to Stramline in Oslo. Will tie up a batch of these to bring along for the autumn fishing, the trout can go really nuts after these, and after just before dark they will be especially efficient!

Dyret

2014.08.31.dryfly.me.dyret

Hook: TMC 100BL #12
Thread: Sheer 14/0 Black
Tail: Wapsi Premium Deer
Body: various dubbings
Rib: UNI-Mylar Holo Silver
Head: Wapsi Premium Deer

This is a great profile on the water: Dyret (or “Animal” in english). I tie this on up in different colors as well, but I would normally put on the yellow one. The red would go great for char and trout on lakes and I will consider this a great searching pattern as well, tie it on to see what is hiding underneath.

I tie up a lot of batches these days for my upcoming autumn-trip to Rena, these are all heading for my BL box since that is a BL only river.

More Vaskebjørn

2014.08.12.vaskebjorn

Hook: Daiichi 2546 #8
Thread: UNI 6/0 Black
Hackle: Whiting Rooster Saddle Grizzly (1 feather used for the fly)
Body: The Fly Co Seals Fur Red/Black dubbing, A.Jensen Saltwater Dub ll White
Eye: Wapsi Bead Chain Eyes

This Vaskebjørn pattern can be tied with or without eyes, but I had to get some eyes on them to see how they turned out. The eyes also give it some extra weight that can be helpful in some situations – considering to tie up this in #4/#6/#8 and with/without a little bit of lead to make some of them even heavier if I need to get the fly down.
